License Activation key Issues
License activation is a one-time process that must be performed for every company where the LS Central setup is established, within the designated environment (Production or Sandbox, whether it’s Pro Production or Test type). License Key is generated per tenant ID
Further instruction and troubleshooting information pages can also be found in the LS Central online help: How to setup License Manager and Troubleshooting
Key Points to Remember:
1. Activation Process:
The LS Central License Key must be input into the License Key field, and the appropriate Environment Type must be selected during setup.
The LS Central license will activate both LS Central Base and LS Central Devices ( from version 25) on a Retail company.
This process applies to both On-Premises and SaaS (D365 BC) versions of LS Central.
2. Company Restrictions:
There are no limits on the number of companies configured for LS Central, regardless of whether they run in Production or Sandbox environments. This is consistent with guidelines set by the LS Retail Dev team for use on the D365 BC platform.
If the License Key has been changed and it must be replaced, be sure that all users assigned to LS Central Base or Device Unit pages are moved.
The following error is raised by the system if users were not removed before activating a new License key.
3. Data Deletion upon Copying:
If a D365 BC SaaS company is copied, the license key data will be erased, requiring reactivation.
If a D365 BC SaaS environment is copied, the license key data will be erased, requiring reactivation.
If a D365 BC SaaS environment is restored from Azure backups, the license key data will be erased, requiring reactivation.
4. Tenant-Based Licensing:
The license key is tied to the tenant ID (Microsoft Entra ID) and does not need renewal upon subscription extension, following Microsoft’s standard protocols.
Before activating a Major or Minor upgrade of the Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS environments please be sure that the License Key has been activated on Retail companies.
If the LS Central SaaS environments are running on Application family Business Central on version 23.3, and users are reporting that the system raise a warning about the License activation key mismatches, Dynamics Admin user must verify and update LS Retail global applications (information available on BC Admin portal under Apps Tab) to latest available version.
Internal (customer) and delegated environment administrators can view all installed apps and any updates available to them on the Manage Apps page in the Business Central administration center.
GA (global apps) installed on D365 BC SaaS tenants are not upgraded if the environment has been upgraded during the minor or major release. Microsoft decided to leave this operation to be executed by Global admin user or CSP users that are managing the upgrades on D365 BC SaaS tenants.
Global application upgrades are now schedule as per Microsoft Cadence procedure.By default, the Apps Update Cadence setting is set to 'Default' on all environments. Due to application dependences on D365 BC SaaS global application customer admin or Microsoft partner in charge with the administration of BC SaaS environments must decide when the Global application updates should be executed.
Note > We strongly recommend you to upgrade GA (global application) outside of customer business hours as this might cause performance issues. The Apps Update Cadence setting does not affect updates to per-tenant extensions installed on the environment.

Once completed the update for LS Retail global apps users should not receive any warnings on LS Central SaaS environment/company where the Key has been activated.
Troubleshooting Activation Issues:
HttpClient Request Requirement:
If users encounter an issue where the License Key cannot be activated, and an error message indicates that the "Allow HttpClient Request" flag is not enabled.
An active D365 BC SaaS user with appropriate permission sets to access the Extension Management page must enable the "Allow HttpClient Request" flag for LS Central Global Applications.
Once registered LS Central license key activated on a specific environment using the License Manager API communicates with the LS Retail License Manager tool using HttpClient connectivity to syncing LS Central seats with customer environment.
